about

I've been sitting on this song for a few years and though it might be time to get them out in the world. I wrote the song at the Banff Centre for the performing arts on a writing retreat there in 2016. I'm not sure why I never felt I got it right, I think the Strange Path version is the first, Then Me and the Mountain and then The Afterlife session with the additional chorus lyrics was recorded last. I think I got it right on the Me and the Mountain Session. Maybe should've left it at that but sometimes you have to go all the way to the end with things.

lyrics

Here are all lyrics and the original title!

The Revolution is Teenage

G C G
What are you gonna do,GUN em down like Ohio?
D C G
you cant burn burn up like ya did in Vietnam?
you cant round up all those little red children
you cant colonize what you cant understand

What are you gonna do went you cant tear gas a child
For standing up for what she believes is right
Oh right unless he’s a brown or a black one
Tell me how the hell do YOU sleep at night?

What are you gonna do When our children are targets
paying the price just for going to school
its 2020 your amendment’s outdated
you say its not the tool, well you look like the fool

What you gonna do, when your government is lobbied
under the blade of gunmakers knife
you wanna Arm every citizen, destroy destroy
You cannot be free when you don’t have a life

D
They fighting for clean air
C G
Fighting for their life
D
Standing on the steps
C G
pushing back against the strife

G
Theres a dream on every corner
C G
Theres a killer in the hall
Em
The future is teenage
D G
With his back against the wall

What you gonna do, the revolution is teenage
What’re you gonna do, gonna knock em all down?
What your gonna wanna do is feed em full of sugar
You better watch your ass theres tiny boots on the ground

What you gonna do when the future is female
you cant do nothing with your dick in your hands
What you gonna do burning up all that poison
While the warrior’s show up to take back their land

They fighting for the teachers
Fighting for their dreams
Standing on the frontline
tearing at the seams

Theres a kid on every corner
Theres a coward in the hall
The future is an Indian
With its a back against the wall

What are you gonna do when the future is indigenous
Modern day slavers in a kingdom of gold
all that money you made while you lost your family
I can tell your right now your shit’s getting old

What are you gonna do when theres no more clean water
What you gonna do at the fork in the road
will you be standing on the right side of love/History
Or will you be crushed like a puppet by the weight of your load

D
They fighting for clean water
C G
Fighting to get free
D
Standing on the lines
C G
To make it better for you and me
G
Theres a fool on every corner
C G
Theres a doctor in the hall
G
The future is teenage
D G
With her back against the wall

What you gonna do when your streets are a war zone
Methamphetamine traumatized nightmare
And you base how were doing by the economy
Then its have a nice day and our country is fine

What are you gonna do, you gonna give more guns
Let the little kids sort out themselves
What are you gonna do, gonna send em all off to wAR
LEARN HOW TO BE A MAN, DONT NEED TO rely YOURSELF
